Capstone

My capstone project included an internship under several music therapists at Alternatives For Children, a non-profit school for children ages 2 to 5 with disabilities. I had the opportunity to observe and assist with music therapy sessions, where I learned a lot about how to use music to help students with disabilities grow to reach their full potential.

The other half of my capstone project is the attached research paper that highlights the value of both music and especially music therapy to students with disabilities. It talks about the benefits to students’ social, communication, behavioral, regulatory, motor and even academic skills. This paper is based on independent research and my own experience from my internship, both observations of sessions and interviews with the music therapists there.
